‘The Family of Blood’

Do you like blood, Blud?

Of course you do - and that’s what you’ll get in this week’s Doctor Who Rewatch Podcast, the blood of dozens of young lads splattered across the English countryside - and what could be better than that? But that’s not all that’s in store for you, dear listeners. We have a series of deadly and easily destroyable scarecrow men, we have a whole range of acting choices and, most importantly, there’s the blood pumping through the, uh, heart of John Smith.

Yes, we’re afraid that after a really nice walk and half a date, John has fallen hard for the charms of Nurse Daisy Ridley and that’s going to prove somewhat problematic as he comes to the realisation that he’s actually space and time-faring swashbuckling mega-playa Doctor Who. Will John choose love or duty? Will he sacrifice his life and love for the greater cause? Will he hide in the wardrobe or under the bed?

So, join us, as we sit down to discuss what may well be one of the best stories of New Who to date!

'Human Nature'

Human nature - it's a funny old thing. Makes one man weep and makes another man sing. Wait, hang on. No, that's love, isn't it? Well, we're going to be getting more than our fair share of both of those this week as old Doctor Who has decided to go on his hollybobs and take a little time off from being dashing across all of space and time. He's gonna settle down for a bit in unspoiled early 20th Century England and do a spot of temp work, earn some cash and then scarper before World War One kicks off.

But that's not even all of what Doctor Who AKA Mr. John Smith will be experiencing. No, it's a return to the good old days of yore, when you had a gorgeous servant to bring you tea and to condescend, a gorgeous nurse to try and crack on with and a whole collection of lads that you can order to be beaten at a moment's notice.

So, get ready for John Smith and Maid Jones to go on tour, do a spot of role play and generally do as the Romans do!

'42'

42, eh?

It's the meaning of life, the universe and everything. It's the number of lines of Cracked Cocaine that @ChrisSykes108 does before work each day. Also, it's the number of minutes Doctor Who and his official, full time companion Doctor Martin Jones have before they crash into THE (no, A) sun!

But, would you believe it, 42 is also roughly the number of minutes of most episodes of revived Who! It's ALSO the title of a popular real-time format action-thriller television drama. Can all these things be JUST a coincidence? Can the universe truly be THAT random? IS there such a thing as fate? All these questions and several more are about to be answered - on this week's Doctor Who Rewatch Podcast!

'The Lazarus Experiment'

Ah, time and tide wait for no man...OR DO THEY?

That's the question we're chomping at the bit to answer on this week's Rewatch Podcast, as Doctor Who and Martin Jones decide to let Martin come home to finally change her clothes, only to be confronted with some old codger babbling on about changing what it means to be human - and old Doctor Who, he don't like that. In his eyes, unless you're being turned into a Pig Slave, he likes humans just the way they are.

So watch, listen and marvel as time's greatest meddler makes it his latest mission to crush the dreams of an old man who simply wants what Doctor Who so callously disregards - eternal youth and, uh, beauty.

'Evolution of the Daleks'

Aaaaaand we're back!

Yes, after what can only described as a significant break where we talked a lot about comics, we're finally ready to throw ourselves back into something a little bit more adult and serious - something involving Pig Slaves, Penis Faced Men and Black People being treated with equality.

As we talked about during part one, this two parter has long been the recipient of some...healthy criticism. But when all's said and done, when we take the whole story into account, when we mourn each and every last fallen Pig Slave, does this emerge as a Who story with hidden depth and quality, or is it comparable to a Pig Slave - something that makes a lot of noise, that slobbers uncontrollably and should ultimately be spurned and sent to live in a shanty town? There's only one way to find out and that's to stuff this podcast straight into your Sony Walk Man!

‘Daleks in Manhattan’

Daleks! But where? In Manhattan, that’s where!

We’re crashing into another two-parter, or a doublĂ© as they’re traditionally known, and it’s only one featuring those devilish tin can menaces that so frequently plague our wonderfully haired hero. But this time, the Daleks aren’t alone. Is it the Cybermen? Is it the Autons? The yet-to-be introduced Weeping angels? No, fool, it’s some…pig…slaves?

‘Daleks in Manhattan’ kicks off a two-parter that frequently comes near the bottom of lists ranking New Who - but is this a reputation that’s truly deserved? Will we turn our noses up at the episode like Martha Jones sleuthing her way through the sewers, or will we breathe deeply the episode’s aroma, like a rose left on our dressing table by our absent Pig Slave lover?

You know what to do!

Why Not?

‘Gridlock’

Gridlock!

That’s the title of this week’s episode and that’s what you’ll get, a bloody load of car things in a tunnel not going forwards very quickly. But if this doesn’t sound exciting, don’t worry yourself, it is! But will the episode manage to live up to the hype that we’ve previously placed on its shoulders in earlier podcasts? Hell, will it even make sense?

There’s only one way to find out, so slap on your drug patch, kidnap an attractive young lady and get ready to live life in the fast lane!
